For Sunday lunch
we went to Andrés Carne de Res in Chia. It is a restaurant where the experience
is about much more than just the food.
Uge had called
ahead of time to make sure that it was accessible, and that we would be seated
at a table that I could easily get to and that had easy access to the toilets. There was a beautiful handicapped accessible toilet, but there was a single step down to get to our table.
Uge also asked about bringing Sombra and was assured, after checking, that it would be fine - and it was!
The experience is a little hard to explain. The space is full. Every surface is covered with something. We were sitting next to a wall that was coated with bottle caps, there was a gramo-phone horn bricked into the wall (so that there was a small window), and that was just the fixed visual drama. There were people dressed up messing around on ropes suspended from the ceiling. There was a 4 piece brass band going around and performing at people's tables. etc etc etc.

Alice was there with the white rabbit and tweedle-dum and tweedle-dee were going around to tables introducing themselves.
I wasn't all that impressed by the food. I guess you go there for the experience more than the food. For a restaurant called 'meat of beef', Louisa's grilled vegetables were much more interesting than our meat dishes.
We dropped Louisa in her new home and headed back to bogota. The road we went out on was now one way heading in to bogota. This is something that happens fairly frequently and I am still getting used to it. There are key routes which become one way in the appropriate direction during rush hour (ie in to the city in the mornings and out in the evenings) and the rest of the time they are two way (with at least 3 lanes in each direction). The road we came back from Chia on was a little 2 lane road that becomes one way heading in to bogota on sunday's and holidays. Then there are the road changes for the ciclovia on sundays, but i'll get in to that later!

What a great experience! So colorful and fun! The food looked pretty colorful as well. At first I thought I was looking at Carnaval photos!
